What This Section Covers

The BIPA Television & Episodic Awards are designed for series and episodic formats created for television, streaming platforms, and digital media. This section welcomes both independent and professional productions, from intimate web series to large-scale drama series.

Eligible Formats Include (but are not limited to):

  • Television Series – Ongoing or completed narrative series in any format.
  • Limited / Mini-Series – Short-run or contained series, fictional or documentary.
  • Web Series – Series created primarily for online platforms and streaming.
  • TV & Web Pilots – Standalone pilot episodes introducing a concept, world, or format.
  • Episodic Documentary Series – Non-fiction series, docu-series, and hybrid formats.
  • Reality & Competition Shows – Structured reality, social experiments, talent formats, etc.
  • Talk Shows & Creative Non-Fiction Formats – Talk-based, cultural, artistic, or thematic shows.
  • Streaming Episodic Content – Series produced for OTT, VOD, and platform-based release.
  • Dramedy, Docu-Drama & Hybrid Forms – Mixed forms that blend fiction and non-fiction.
  • Audio-Visual Episodic Experiments – Innovative series that explore new visual and narrative structures.

Selected works from the Television & Episodic section may be:

  • Showcased (in full or as curated excerpts) at BIPA’s live screening events in Berlin.

  • Included in focused industry or critic screenings, depending on availability and programming.
