My Story: Building & Supporting

i , Amir Morsali, live and work by one belief: There is always a way to create. If a way does not exist, it must be built.

A 360-Degree Journey in the Arts For over two decades, this belief has been my guide in the complex and dynamic world of the arts. My professional path has been a deep dive into every dimension of creating a work of art; from the nuances of Directing and Writing in cinema and theatre to taking the stage as an Actor. But the beating heart of my work has always been behind the scenes, in the strategic roles of Producer, Production Manager, and Artistic Director—the space where I could bring an idea from paper to the screen or stage and provide the infrastructure for a story to shine. It was during these years and as a result of collaborating with various groups and individuals that I understood the real power lies in becoming a "we"; a mindset that became the cornerstone of "Amira Pictures."

A Mission of Support From the very beginning, one principle was key for me: being a supporter. I found deep satisfaction in creating the best possible conditions for young, first-time directors to make their films, especially for women filmmakers who faced greater obstacles. Organizing a festival for theatre students or facilitating a platform for international masters to hold their workshops was, for me, more than a job; it was a mission: the mission of creating space for others to flourish.

The Turning Point: Crisis and Acclaim The successes and credibility gained along this path provided me with the great honor of standing alongside one of the most important filmmakers in world cinema, Mohammad Rasoulof. Collaborating with such a skilled and professional artist on my last project in Iran culminated in managing one of the most globally acclaimed projects of recent years—the Academy Award®-nominated film 'The Seed of the Sacred Fig'. This project, produced under unimaginably high-pressure conditions, taught me that 'crisis management' is not just a skill but an art: the art of creating calm and a 'good mood' in the heart of a storm. The global success of this film marked a new chapter in my life: migration to Berlin.

A New Chapter in Berlin: A Responsibility My arrival in Berlin marked the beginning of a different kind of 'pre-production': a year of intensive field research to understand this city's artistic ecosystem. I spoke with hundreds of immigrant artists and discovered a painful truth: an ocean of talent was being wasted in a cycle of "hopelessness," due to their unfamiliarity with the system and the lack of a professional network. And perhaps because they knew of my perseverance and my belief that a path must be built if one does not exist, one sentence was repeated over and over; a phrase that became my responsibility: “Amir, look after us.”

The Vision: The Birth of Amira Pictures Today, that responsibility has transformed into a clear vision. I founded 'Amira Pictures' as the story of this journey and the answer to that responsibility. A story about turning professional experience and credibility into a supportive platform. This is the prologue to building that path which did not exist. A new season whose story has just begun; a story of connecting talent with opportunity, and of building a professional home for a community I am proud to be a part of. And the story continues, right here...
