Welcome to the Berlin International Pictures Awards!

BIPA is a new cinematic platform dedicated to discovering and showcasing emerging voices in global filmmaking. Based in the artistic heart of Berlin, Germany 🇩🇪, our mission is to identify and celebrate works that push the boundaries of visual storytelling.

Our Awards & Recognition 🏆

At BIPA, our focus is on providing a credible platform for filmmakers to have their work seen on the big screen. Our selection process is centered around the Berlin Seasonal Showcase.

Our Competition Awards: Works chosen as "Official Selections" for our seasonal edition will compete for our main awards in key cinematic categories.

  • Laurels & Certificates: All "Official Selections" and final "Winners" will receive the official BIPA digital laurel and certificate to use in their marketing campaigns.

The Grand Prize: The Berlin Seasonal Showcase 🍿✨ Our top prize is an invitation to screen at our in-person, live, and curated event held right here in Berlin! This is a tangible opportunity to showcase your work on the big screen in front of a cinema audience in one of Europe's most iconic artistic cities.

Categories of Entry 🎨

Our competition focuses on core cinematic achievements. We accept submissions in the following main categories:

  • Narrative Feature

  • Narrative Short

  • Documentary

  • Animation

  • Student Film

(Key craft awards (such as Directing, Cinematography, and Screenwriting) will also be presented to selected films.)

Official Rules & Terms 📜

By submitting your film ("the Film") to the Berlin International Pictures Awards ("BIPA," "we," "us"), you ("the Filmmaker") acknowledge and agree to the following Rules & Terms.

  • Eligibility: BIPA is an international competition open to all filmmakers. We accept films in main cinematic genres (e.g., short, feature, documentary, and animation). There is no restriction on the film's completion date. Non-English language films must have English subtitles. Premiere status is not required.

  • Submissions & Fees: All submissions must be made via the FilmFreeway platform. All submission fees are non-refundable. A submission fee is required for each film submitted.

  • Judging: BIPA is a seasonal competition. All judging decisions are final and at the sole discretion of the Festival.

  • Awards & Showcase: "Official Selections" and "Winners" will receive digital laurels and certificates. A curated selection of top winning films will be chosen for our live "Berlin Showcase." Please Note: A "Winner" status does not guarantee a live screening. The showcase selection is a separate, curated process.

  • Rights & Clearances: The Filmmaker warrants that they are the legal owner of the Film and hold all necessary rights for public exhibition (including music rights, etc.).

  • Promotion: By submitting, the Filmmaker grants BIPA the non-exclusive right to use excerpts, still images, and trailers for promotional purposes.

  • Acceptance: Submission to BIPA constitutes full acceptance of these Rules & Terms.
